Recognition Upgrades do not work like Oneup but much alike standby upgrades. They must upgrade you even there is one empty seat left in Business up to when the passenger manifest is printed at the gate. Unless you had 10-15 no shows, ie those 10-15 had checked in but never boarded, you should have been given the upgrade. I would ask NZ for a formal explanation.
