Right now I am able to purchase one ticket with just miles and my husband can purchase his ticket with a combo of miles/$$ and the total cost would be reasonable, but if I have a chance to save money if the price goes down, I'd like to do that!
Hope this isn't too confusing of a question - thanks so much for any help anyone can offer. My husband and I are big fans of Alaska and plan to fly them over other airlines whenever it is feasible.

If you are planning on booking your husband's ticket using a Miles & Money option then there is a Price Guarantee feature on AS that could help you. If the price goes down after your purchase then you can request a credit using the following link:
http://www.alaskaair.com/content/dea...guarantee.aspx
Note that this will give you a credit to be used on a future flight, not a cash refund. The credit will need to be used within a year from the date of your original purchase. I have used this option several times on Miles & Money tickets and it works well.
On the other hand I don't have any good suggestions regarding your Miles Only ticket. I assume you'd have to pay a fee to rebook if the number of miles required went down in the future. Maybe someone else here has an idea for you.
