More food for thought - if you are going to be anywhere near valleys or passes it will be prime "Santa Ana Wind" season.

This will be a consideration if your trip is not just in the Downtown Los Angeles area. Not worth changing the car resi now if you're really looking forward to a convertible, but if the news closer to you trip says Santa Ana winds are coming you may want to swap out the convertible (and make sure it is not an SUV). Those winds can gust up to 75 mph.
