Hi Tom,
I am somewhat concerned about this statement "Due to our occupancy levels it is sometimes hard to get a complimentary upgrade upon check in." Unfortunately, i find that hard to believe. I stayed at this hotel on Feb 2nd and while it was a lovely stay, the hotel was nowhere near full occupancy. I reserved a club floor room with double beds and I got just that. (i was not expecting an upgrade, so no bad blood here).
Morning of arrival, i was able to book suites, so i called Plat desk to verify if a comp upgrade was processed, and they said no. Called again at noon, this time to the front desk directly and they said "we are working on it".
Prior to check in at 7:30pm, i called Plat desk to verify if suites were available and they said yes. I tried booking online and there were suites available. 20mins later i showed up at the front desk and i got this message "Thanks for your loyalty, you have been upgr...sorry you booked a Club room and there are no upgrades at this time", Thanks but i wasnt expecting it

. The check-in staff were not rude at all, actually very friendly and welcoming. The club check-in staff was very nice as well.
I was honestly not interested in an upgrade, because i wanted the double beds as reserved but was just curious to see if i will experience what others had. I must tell you the hotel was not at full occupancy when I checked in. A casual convo with an off duty front desk staff, gave me the info that i needed that suites were still available for sale but not as upgrades

.
Tom - I will be back for sure, because i was in PDX for a concert and didnt get to explore the hotel much. But please dont create any expectations that can not be met by your hotel.
Thanks.
