Just got off the phone with Amex in Germany, and sorry to report that it looks like they are going to "revitalise" the card like they did in the uk shortly.

Translation: insurance benefits downgraded, excess payments and tied to use of card, not as before. Increase of fee to 600 EUR.

Also weren't willing to offer Cathay Marco Polo benefit, so I wonder how long that will last elsewhere.

Disappointing. Will need to see what the details are but I would be surprised if they err in favour of the customer...
