I have found you can do much better using almost any other travel agent. I tthink you would be shocked to find out how much less someone has paid for the same cabin type than booking via Amex.
I have booked many cruises through my own travel agent (not Amex) and always receive the Amex benefits on top of any other discount he gets me.
