You do not need to go through immigration, security or anything. You can stay in air side (terminal) and spend 5 hours without any hassle. BTW, believe me, it is not difficult at all to find a rest room without a map
As you can see from the Changi airport map, Terminal 1, 2, 3 are all on a same level and connected, which means you can walk around freely (only if you wish) without worrying about security. Yes, there are many shops, bars, eating places and etc. so you should not have any problems at all.
If I may suggest you one thing, it seems that it would be a good idea to book transit hotel as other posters advised.
Why?
1. Apart from lounge option, this is the only way that you can have a shower.
2. You can stay in a room quietly and peacefully or wander off leaving your personal stuff in the room.
3. You can charge your pc, cell phone and etc. whatever have you.
Many people stay happily remaining indoors, so I do not see why you cannot?

Hi thanks kind words and preciation reply. Yes just alittle bit anxiety. But just excitement aswell.
I was thinking about the hotel room but i dont want to leave the airport thats for sure. There is a hotel inside the terminal call the embasy ? but really thats mainly for these who are staying over 6 hours. Im only be under 5 hours. You see i will need to get back to the terminal 1 to catch my plane and seat there 1 hour before depart. 1150pm So this only indicates and means i will only have 4 hours to do things and such.
So maybe hotel room 4 hours not good. Because i might wish to look at the shops same time.
What i wanted to do was just find a private shower room. and a private toilet only so i can take a good hot shower for 30minutes and then fix my hair and feel refresh (due to long hauls) So if this is not posible. I gues i need to book a hotel with a shower unless one would not need to book a hotel just to use the showers.
I believe a good hot shower will relax me enough. Then i can later go back to terminals and seat somewhere along the way or seat near food courts and eat something with coffee and log on the internet.
Do you think it is posible to have a private shower and toilet for me to use without the hassle of public people coming in and out ?
Because i will only have 4 hours to do freely what i want. Ive desided to be back to terminal 1 (1 hour) before departure. Just incase the plane came early or late. Mybe 1hour and 15minutes to be sure to be at terminal 1.
I be comming from australia on terminal 1 and terminal 1 is where again i must catch a finnair.
I dont no how the terminal 1 and 2 and 3 are but i presume they are levels. I could simply not go downstairs and upstairs because i might end up going thru imigration.. security and what not just too much hassle and more likely too many people trying to get around.
Just curiosity. Do you think as soon as i arrive at singapore international airport... its ok to have a warm coffee ? i mean 8 hours on the plane from australia to singapore i might be fresh and excitement from australia getting on the plane but i might aventually get some what annoying and tired just after 5 or 6 hours or by the time i land at singapore thats when im starting to feel tired.
I dont think i will feel tired at all from the moment i get on the plane from austrlaia but i might start to kick in that bad feeling when it past around 6 or so hours on the plane.
So only some good advice and options.
Yep i will need to charge my phone and camera perhaps laptop. I will need to be near my equipment and never leave my devices behind while i walk away. Anyone could steal them.
So you say its easy to find shower rooms? do i really need to book hotel in order just to use the shower room for under 1 hour?
