I asked for 5A and was told that it had been filled.....
Wait.... what ?
I am still unsure how this happened but I do know the pax in 5A had no status with EY/VA and checked in after me.
It was their first time on EY and they had to be shown how to use the seat/IFE and where the toilet was, so def not a FF.
IME, regardless of airline, many agents do not give up those seats at check in. I imagine they are blocked for EY Gold Elite and Gold. 5A was not filled. It was blocked and she couldn't unblock it.

I had this happen on QFlink on Sat. Was in 1B, knew 1A was blocked and asked to have my family member moved to 1A. Check in agent said it was 'taken.' The lounge agent managed to fix it.

Do VA/EY recognise premium seat selection?
