Although about 1.7 million people live and work in Vienna, it still has a somewhat small town flair. It's conservative without being boring, sometimes you feel like living in the past, and it can be very laid back. Compared to London, Paris and Berlin life here is far less hectic, but then of course that is something you have to get used to. I like this mentality. Vienna offers most of the things other capitals have as well, but on a smaller scale.
I very much concur. I see why many think that Vienna is boring (Sunday's especially) , but I always like returning there. I feel the same about Bratislava. I am going to spend cumulatively more than a month in Bratislava this year, so I hope to be able to report on the gay scene in more detail soon. The number of places you can go to is fairly limited.
