As Brian stated above, the conversion to a Penfed chip card will create a new account.... I got my original Penfed Platinum Cash card in Feb 2013, and converted it to a chip card in March. My first statement with the chip card just closed and I have a new account on my credit report. The original card now shows as closed in March and the new chip card was backdated with an open date in Feb. This is something for people to consider if they are concerned about their AAoA taking a hit. I can't run a new equifax report til December so I'm not sure if it also resulted in a hard pull.... hopefully not.
