I am not sure about Terminal 1, but if you are arriving at Terminal 2, once you exit customs and get out to the lobby, you will see an escalator going down to the trains. It is well marked. Can't miss it. When you get to the bottom and you walk through the entry to the train station, there will be a currency exchange on your right, then NEX machines and then around the corner, a staffed NEX ticket window. I would suggest using the ticket window if you are not familiar with the machines. Once you have your tickets, go through the turnstile (insert the ticket and remember to take it out on the other side) and then there is another down escalator on your right (just a few yards beyond the turnstile) which takes you down to the platform. Tickets have reserved seats so move to the area where you car will stop. There are 12 cars on the train, but the car numbers are clearly marked on the platform.
The NEX/Suica package is a good deal and makes using the train and subway system simple. You can also use the Suica card to pay for things in convenience stores and vending machines. You can also use them for entry fees to some attractions and in some taxis. Extremely convenient and you can reload them at nearly every train station, including the two stations just outside of the Conrad (Oeda line subway down below and the Yurikamome train up above). Hit the English button on the machines and follow the directions. Have some cash handy.
If you are going to purchase the NEX/Suica package, you need to do that at the JR ticket office that will be on your left when you come into the station area, across the hall from the NEX vending machines. You cannot purchase this package at the NEX ticket window. Have your passports ready.
One way fare is JPY 2940 for the regular cars and JPY 4430 for the green car (first class car). NEX/Suica package is JPY 3500 for the regular cars and JPY 5000 for the Green cars. The Suica card comes with JPY 2000 pre loaded on it, so you can see, it really is a good deal.
Thank you for the detailed info about purchasing the NEX tickets.
If you are purchasing the NEX/Suica package from the JR ticket office (hopefully they is one upon exiting Terminal 1), will they automatically give you a reserved seat assignment with a specific train number, car number and seat number printed on it? Is the NEX and Suica fares both loaded onto one single card or are they two separate cards/tickets? I am trying to compare it to HK's Octopus card which is one card where the fare, whether it is for the HKIA express or the local train, is simply deducted from the card.
Trying to decide if it is better to purchase the RT NEX/Suica card or just the OW NEX/Suica and take the airport limo bus back to NRT.
