I hardly think of random secondary screening as an affront to civil liberties. Just like when a metal detector arch produces random intentional false positives to make sure a proportion of the population are patted down or wanded.
If it happens every time, then it's perhaps a cause for concern. But a random screening? I'm past caring, I just comply and get on with it, makes everyone's life easier.
