You either love Vienna, or you can't be bothered with it. I was born and raised in Germany, have lived in the UK and spent some time in Australia in my youth, and I've been living in Austria for almost 20 years now.
Although about 1.7 million people live and work in Vienna, it still has a somewhat small town flair. It's conservative without being boring, sometimes you feel like living in the past, and it can be very laid back. Compared to London, Paris and Berlin life here is far less hectic, but then of course that is something you have to get used to. I like this mentality. If it doesn't happen today, it's gonna happen tomorrow. If it doesn't happen tomorrow, so what... But then, that is not everybody's cup of tea.
Vienna offers most of the things other capitals have as well, but on a smaller scale.
