Complimentary upgrades on award tkts

It was a mistake, ticket change must have been recoded as Y which I've had happen to me before as well.

I did ONCE receive a 500-mile upgrade on a JFK-DFW leg of a trip to HNL. Got to DFW and they emphasized the giant mistake that was made when I tried to get the same on the DFW-HNL leg...that was as an EXP.
