As ExePlat I can't use 500 milers to upgrade, can I use miles and cash?

SAN-DFW-ANC-DFW-LAX-IAD with five segments probably wouldn't work, and honestly LAX-IAD is the segment I really want to get a guaranteed upgrade for.

Is this possible?

I can't find information on the AA website. If someone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.
