And yet, proceeding with the hypothetical that the parents attemped to bend the monitor closed, UA allowed these criminals to fly from ORD to BWI.

Sometimes just a warning is given and I am sure by the time the LEO's got there, the parents were more than mortified and quite subdued and contrite once they realized how much trouble they might actually be in. You are comparing speeding to damaging a commercial airliner? Ever been pulled over for DUI and not gotten arrested?
