I'm not sure why people don't understand. Not everyone get's arrested when they commit a crime. Police make a judgement call and they decided an arrest was not needed. If the parents were traveling alone it might be different, but since they had children they were probably saved from an arrest.
The Captain had no choice, they were being classless and probably continued to close the monitor, they were told no, and they did it anyways.
And yet, proceeding with the hypothetical that the parents attemped to bend the monitor closed, UA allowed these criminals to fly from ORD to BWI.

Totally agree here. Not every crime ends in arrest. Sometimes just a warning is given and I am sure by the time the LEO's got there, the parents were more than mortified and quite subdued and contrite once they realized how much trouble they might actually be in. Ever been pulled over for breaking a traffic law and not gotten a ticket? The LEO made a decision that it didn't warrant arrest for whatever reason but that doesn't mean the diversion wasn't justified.
