Also agree though that he should have let you know he would be back.
Maybe he wanted to be in his original seat because it was further forward for departure, or just for convenience in repacking and collecting his hand baggage.
In any event, I think the only unreasonable thing is the petulant sweeping of the rubbish on the floor. All three pax should have tidied that up together IMO.
