Been using some pieced together luggage set for years and wanted to invest in something a bit better, recent trip to Germany had me really admiring the Rimowa luggage as it just seemed well made.

Looking at possibly picking up one of their "Salsa" models but debating on either the 26 or 29" size and wondering what is more practical, right now I have a 24" Samsonite soft and what I think is a 30" American tourister soft,,,,the Samsonite is rather small for most trips and the 30" seems like it is a pain because of my tendency to overpack it.

I read here that 26-27 seems to be a sweet spot but I wonder if the 26" Rimowa seems smaller because of the design and if I should go 29" or if the latter will be too prone to overloading?

Any opinions on essential pieces would be great, I think out of the gate I will only need the one piece as I always check luggage but wondering thoughts thanks
