It seems like showers are a new concept to former UA RCCs. However, they have been around for years at CO's PCs at EWR/IAH. It is surprising that ORD only recently opened up showers to UC members and at IAD, you have to go to the LH SEN lounge to take a shower.
I typically use the showers after long-haul international flights, especially if I am connecting to another flight and I have at least a couple of hours in between flights.
Yes, in past years I was told I couldn't use the showers at ORD in the RCC. I was flying NRT-ORD-LHR and was really disappointed by it. The fact that they were so available in AA Admirals clubs was something I really liked after switching. I'm glad they have changed for UA as well.
