Ticket Newark to Dublin via London....no stopover allowed...what about my bag?
Hi all
I am flying from Newark today with my final destination Dublin. I am flying to London heathrow first and then getting a flight to Dublin 2 hrs later. I have checked in my bag and its checked in to Dublin.
An hour ago I got a call from my sister with some bad news about a family member. It turns out that I have to stay in London when I arrive and thus will not be taking the flight onto Dublin.
I went back to the ticket desk etc told them my story trying to get my bag checked to London instead of Dublin.i knew that this would be difficult but didn't expect what the would tell me
They said I cannot stopover in London and must go onto Dublin. If I do not i will be charged 400$ and also if I stay in London to get my bag back I would have to pay a further 300£ in London.
I have to stay in London, it's a matter of hours and I am not travelling on to Dublin.
Is there anyway that I can get through this? I cannot afford that money.
If I don't get on the flight and don't pay the fee, what will happen to my bag? I just checked the t&c for my ticket and there is nothing on no stopovers allowed.
Please, if someone could help me out I would really appreciate it
