Op Up Intl for me but not my companion
So this past Monday I was upgraded from FRA-ATL.

Very nice bing that it was flatbeds.

But here's my question. I was flying with a companion, booked on the same PNR, and my companion didn't get the upgrade. I asked the gate agent and they said they only needed one person to get the upgrade so they just had upgraded me and not my companion and my original seat had already been filled.

I know if I wanted to sit back with my companion i probably could have just told the guy in my seat to take my buis class seat, but my question is, is it normal to just upgrade one person in the same PNR?
