Correct. the upgrade methodology is quite different on the 2 airlines (which is why I didn't do the comparison).

With QF you apply on-line to upgrade a booked and ticketed flight, spending points (miles) at a set rate for the particular flight, which is based on distance. Higher status pax get best chance of success. Like eUps, confirmation may be instant, or later.
