Is this specific to Marriot? I have always applied for points clubs while business traveling and never had a problem not collecting points/miles. My company provides a credit card number to the hotel and I only use my personal card for incidentals.
That is not a direct bill. Direct billing means that the property issues an invoice to the employer (in this case) and the employer then pays as an account payable.
