Upon arrival at KIX, just look for the Citibank ATM. That will be your easiest option, and unlike some ATMs in Japan, will accept almost any foreign card and will be open 24/7. 7/11's in town are a good second option. It's very likely that whatever limit your issuing bank imposes on daily withdrawals will be the governing factor.
using the Citibank ATM located just after customs seems like a simple thing. actually that has been my plan all along until my Canadian friend started freaking out on me when i said i planned to arrive without any JPY or large sums of USD to exchange. LOL! she is still convinced i will have no JPY and be stuck in the airport. *shakes head*
