Yes, at peak times, eg weekends, and evenings, the doormen have asked to see restaurant receipts or proof that one has patronised the establishment for they know that many people will pretend to be patrons of the hotel when they are not. I think the only ones they don't ask are the lovely 'Ladies of the Night' coming out of Brix bar !

It's a benefit because the hotel has made an effort to line up the service and make it available. Otherwise I could stand in a long line outside the hotel for half an hour waiting for a regular taxi to pull up. Many locals come over to the Hyatt to get a cab because the area is so busy with shoppers and tourists.
But as a 'local' I know the ins and outs of getting a taxi in Singapore - as do regular visitors to Singapore. Many other hotels advertise in big bold letters in their elevators, and rooms to 'reserve a taxi in advance due to peak hours .. and it states the fee is not for the hotel'. I just was annoyed that the Hyatt felt that they know their clients' better than we know ourselves ! Besides, if we see a queue, then we might ask the hotel to help or in this case, I'd call up Comfort Cablink and ask for a taxi right away and the booking charge is around $2-3.
