Both husband and I have the United Explorer Chase and I have the CSP .
Our AF will be sometime in Oct & Nov for the 2 cards.
I booked the flights under my United Explorer ( paid fees with that card)
What are my chances of getting an upgrade from LAX-KOA having these cards and do I have to request an upgrade?
There are two separate questions here:
Will either or both of the travelers be eligible for upgrades?
What is the chance of the upgrade, if available, of clearing?
Without some indication of status and the day of week of travel, the 2nd question is hard to guess at. Higher elites have had good success with upgrades to the islands, middle elites some success. Non-elites on busy days is probably not a good bet.
The first Q is a bit harder. The credit card award benefit as stated is only for the primary card holder and only if the card is used. It should be automatic and if not requesting has had marginal success. There have been hit and miss reports about companions and in general it has not been necessary to actually use the card. However, there have been some very recent reports card use
may now be enforced (at least for the bag waver benefit) -- still unclear. So very murky -- there are mixed reports of success and reports of failures.
