Fanjet is quite right. Slowakia can be quite homophobic, Gay Pride Parade in recent years resulted in violent clashes between paraders and anti-gay activists. Even high level politicians make homophobic remarks in public. There are one or two places in Bratislava, but often slovakian guys come here to Vienna (that's only 60 kilometers/1 hour drive away) to go out.
I know. I have hooked up with more Slovikian guys in Vienna than I have in Bratislava. But in fairness, the gay dance club in Bratislava is quite nice. Much better than the cramped ashtry (Why Not) in Vienna. The people at Appolan are incredibly friendly. Both guys and girls would come up to me just to strike up a casual conversation. The atmosphere was the complete opposite of being clique-ish.
