In restaurants, R&R asks for a pot of hot water and puts a bag of personal stash of carefully selected tea. Often from the hotel Concierge Lounge or a previously attended Conference at a Hotel.

In the hotel room with a coffee pot maker, R&R pours heated bottled water into a cup and carefully places one of the pre-selected tea bags for a delightful refreshing moment. Cost: pennies
Of course, this post is tongue in cheek. However, I should say that I have really started developing an appreciation for Chinese tea (which one can
never replicate with a tea bag) when prepared 'properly' (not sure we do it properly properly at home, but we try at least). The prices still make my eyes water, but as a teetotaller, I am now understanding what it's like to pay a lot for one's drink!
The chinese tea ceremony scam is exactly that, a scam. But if they used really really top notch tea (which of course they don't), it would be easy to conceive it costing a few hundred RMB.
