You can duplicate the Glacier Express route, without riding on the train called Glacier Express: local train from Chur to Diesentis/Munster, change for train to Andermatt, change for train to Visp. The connections are short (for most trips).
If you are planning on doing lots of train trips in Switz. a Swiss railpass (there are several varieties of these--plan out your itn. in advance) would be very useful.
