And I'm sorry to say that I didn't find your post really helpful. Lots of rooms have connecting doors.... and you mostly don't know it until you are in the room. And nothing warns you before check-in about a neighbor that causes you grief. That can simply happen anywhere.
I just read your post that, in my opinion, the hotel responded by first trying to remove the odor and then giving you another room. I fail to see what they could have done more. Except shooting the other guest and giving you an upgrade to the Imperial suite :-).
And I'm pretty sure your neighbor will not be the only one smoking in Paris....
Seems we have lost some of "decorum" in here and expanded cynicism without regard to what I believe it was an honest post. Helpful not sure, but surely did not deserve the disrespect it has garnered.
While I am sure you are well heeled traveler who enjoys nothing but the best without regard to cost, many of us don't. I would suggest dropping your cynical comments. very unbecoming and certainly not in the spirit of this forum
