You can get a balance (apparently) by calling AE and having an agent put in the request for you.
I had issues requesting this information online and by talking to an agent. Finally an agent was able to talk to someone else who was able to tell me orally how many miles I had expiring in Dec. 2014. I was then told not to ask online until June 2013 as all had been blocked. I have since changed my email address with aeroplan thinking that may have been the problem. And, I have now received via snail mail two separate letters telling me the miles that are expiring in Dec. 2014. So, my advice is not to keep trying online as that sets up an automatic block. Talk to an agent and get the info sent by snail mail and hopefully get the info while on the call. There is definitely a glitch. I had been trying since the beginning of January 2013!! Good luck to those having problems.
