Hi Folks,

I will be travelling from Vancouver to Jakarta ( Indonesia) while transiting at Hong Kong along the way.

I have a question with regards to CX baggage allowance for passengers transiting from another airline.

Basically I will be travelling with Air Canada from Vancouver to Hong Kong. Then I will be taking Cathay Pacific from Hong Kong to Jakarta. Transit time is about 1 hour.

I was wondering how the baggage allowance works. I understand that Air Canada allows 2 luggage from Vancouver to Hong Kong. But will Cathay Pacific charge me when i travel from Hong Kong to Jakarta whereby baggage allowance is by weight?

The tickets I am buying is from Orbitz and I understand that if i miss my connection, I would pretty much be screwed as I am using different airlines.

The reason why I am asking is because whenever i use HKG as a transit point, I have always used CX as the single airline and i have never had to deal with luggage problems but i have done a transit at Shanghai and that was hectic as hell having to pick up my luggage, exit the terminal and finally re-check in and SIA also charged me about 300 USD for the additional baggage (I came with 2 luggages from Vancouver). I understand i should have checked before hand which is why I want to make sure this time.
