Another reason is that you can always modify the earlier rez to the lower rate by simply putting in a call to Marriott reservations.

US, you are correct, the illustration does not qualify for LNF because of the 24 hour timeframe, and you are also correct that he could just call customer service and change the rate. However, it IS possible to LNF 2 rates off of Marriott.com, I have done it many times.

Can you check this link: https://www.marriott.com/hotel-prices/faqs.mi

What information do I need to send to Marriott to help verify my claim?
"The claim form outlines all required information for your claim. You will need to provide Marriott with specific information depending on where you found the comparison rate to help us verify your claim......
If your comparison rate was found on a Marriott Internet Web site, through Marriott Worldwide Reservations, at a Marriott hotel, or through a travel agency or travel management company, your claim must include a Marriott confirmation number."

This is correct. And when it works, it works particularly well, because you have (2) confirmed reservations on their own site....they can easily verify it, none of that "rate has disappeared" stuff.

It used to be really easy, harder now, but still doable. Nothing to do with the time change...merely find a rate code that does not have any criteria associated to it.

You are caught up in your current rates - no real benefit there at this point. What you should do is call Marriott, get the rate reduced to 199...and then go find a rate lower than $199 and file an LNF!
