It doesn't sound like you're trying to do something unusual. If I understand you correctly, you're simply trying to use the nominee mechanism.
So you're in her account, you've set yourself as a nominee, then you enter your name (maybe you have different names) and PNR booking reference?
The part that confused me is you said "she" has no bookings.
