Amusingly all these places literally qualify for 3 Michelin stars:

"exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey"

The only place I've gone to purely to eat was San Sebastian. It's about as good as you can get in that category, and I stopped off at Martin Berasategui for some good 3* food on top of all the pinxos.
