They have gone through I cleaned up the place and likely have done things to prevent this from happening agan.

Outside the park....the hotels are 45-60 minutes outside the valley. Grovel and, mariposa, and around Fresno are where hotels are. Closer you have camping locations.

I would just hold onto it and use it.
