It's easier to redeem flights on United.

Delta has more direct flights from Detroit and if you are a big spender and fly enough for status to be worth it you can also get 20,000 or 30,000 status qualifying miles on Delta Anex cards.

I fly from DTW and I use United Cards and Chase Ultimate Rewards cards to get United miles. If I flew more I'd probably get a Delta Amex Platinum.
