Kids love the Tower of London - the Crown Jewels for the girls and the armoury for the boys are absolute favourites. As the OP is from the USA, they'll also enjoy the antiquity of the place, the moat and the tales of beheadings etc. To my mind, that sort of thing can get their imagination going much more than standing in a pod, looking at views.
