Can I take a luggage cart from sofitel to the platform for the HEX? I've seen some pictures of the HEX tube with carts strewn about so I figured that was ok.

I think I'll stick with the sofitel. So far bus tour and view from the shard is winning. If anyone has any ideas for kid-friendly, non-expensive restaurant/pubs near the Shard/Tower Bridge area, it would be much appreciated!

If you walk from The Shard down to Tower Bridge, there is a huge new office complex on the river just before Tower Bridge which includes a Zizzi pizza restaurant, amongst other things. Great views of the bridge and the whole complex is traffic free. Small park next to it.
