"VIP" on BP: "VIP EMER/BA/xxxxxx"

randomly bumped into a friend this morning in the lounge in T5 who was flying back to SFO.

Had a look at his boarding pass and under his name on the 'tearing off bit' it says:
VIP EMER/BA/xnumberx

there's no reference to VIP on the left hand side where it just says
Club World and then the usual BA Gold / EMER

He doesnt think he's GGL (but is Gold), has a very high rate of Ops Ups and his tickets are usually booking via his work's corporate TA.

What's the VIP reference to? Is it because of the corporate TA booking?

I've seen MIP, VIP, Corporate, and company names on Pax Manifests before but never on the BP.

Thanks.
