I got an OpUp from WT to WT+ on BA292 (IAD-LHR) on Wednesday. The first desk at check in was being manned by the IAD BA manager. She told me it was a back office upgrade and was due to Gold status as WT was oversold.

Have to say the staff at IAD and the flight were fantastic. Got an extra guest into the lounge, flight staff recognised status but in a nice way, were really friendly and helpful.
