I decided to try the ex-EU approach to Sri Lanka from CDG with Jordanian rather than direct with BA. The price was massively cheaper (and I noted that return tickets are up for grabs at under £1000 in business at the moment). I have managed to get rerouted but my family is not amused even when I explain how many tier points we are collecting. So there are definitely pros and cons to making your journey more complex to save money.
That's exactly the one I was looking at - good price and lots of tier points - enough to requalify for silver.
