Again, it's not about the $50 USD. It's just unnecessary for you to sign up so soon now. I'm not familiar with the T&C of the Amex card, but I suspect you would have to be 18 and above too. Either way, as midlevels pointed out:
#Club miles and Club sectors cannot be claimed for flights taken before enrolment in The Marco Polo Club.
