I was talking to the reception manager at one of my usual HIs yesterday. He was well aware of the change to IHG Rewards Club but knew nothing about free wi-fi being offered. From his point of view it would be virtually impossible to manage.
Later another regular guest was discussing the same subject with the Operations Manager. Feedback from him was that the hotel was likely to "opt-out" of offering this service.
I guess they are welcome to opt out of IHG anytime they please.
