Question UA schedule reductions/routing issues in GEG--what to do?

Hi,

GEG (Spokane, WA) used to have a really robust UA presence with mainline flights to ORD, DEN, SFO and 6 UX flights to SEA. That's been cut way back over the years to just 2 mainline to DEN and 2 UX to SFO. But I just saw that as of this summer, the SFO flights are going away, leaving only DEN service. The worst part is that pretty much any west coast or Asia-Pac destination (SFO, LAS, NRT, etc.) through DEN prices out as two separate fares so they're really expensive.

Smaller "nearby" cities like PSC and MSO have kept these routes. It's hard to stay loyal to UA in these circumstances, but I'd like to due to their route network. Is this likely to be just a schedule glitch that will go away or a long-term situation? Is there a booking technique to make the fares price out like they used to? Should I consider a switch? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

-Brian
