As others mentioned above, I'm not at all surprised. It seems like every 747 flight, the IFE is out for at least one person or chunk of business. The best is when they decide that restarting the computer that controls that person's IFE isn't working, so they kill everyone's. this is typically followed by orders of (for everyone) 'don't touch anything for about 10 minutes because if you disturb it while booting, it'll crash again. It's probably less than 25% of the time that they actually get things working for the affected person (for the complete rest of the flight).

My ipad shows much higher definition video and boots in 20 seconds. I can only imagine what dinosaur of modern computing powers the 747's IFE....

As for seat failures, again, nothing surprises me, but I've seen far fewer problems there.
