I checked the MU flight PVG-NKG. It unfortunately only flies once a day, late evening out of PVG, early morning out of NKG.

Of course on the day just before I land, they're selling it for 180 RMB all-in, which would be perfect, but just 8 hours too early

For the way back, even if that means spending 4 hours in PVG, it might be an option. However currently it's selling for 880 RMB - given it's a super small plane (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embraer...10_Bandeirante) maybe they'll make the seats cheaper 1-2 days before departure, I'll just check it again on Saturday/Sunday. However, for the trip PVG to Nanjing, still haven't found a working alternative..
