Some confusion here...UA931 was LHR-SFO. UA901 was FRA-SFO. Both were 744s, which I think have aging issues, if I read other posters' comments here correctly. I don't know if seat problems are more common on these older planes, but I wasn't completely surprised when I saw which equipment you were on. Others can probably shed more light on this issue.
