+1 - Exactly. When this happens on AA, it's the bankruptcy/merger, when it happens on DL it's FCM and when it happens on UA it's SHARES.

This is why I advise everybody to always wear a hat lined with tinfoil so that the evil conspirators can't read your thoughts and steal your UG.

Seriously, it does strike me as odd that when simple things happen, people don't just pick up the phone and ask. No, AA isn't going to say it's a FAM if it's a FAM (which it isn't this far out). But, that doesn't matter. The question isn't what happened, it's how can we fix it if possible.
