Call AA and ask them to move seats. I have had a couple issues where seats that were available in the 'View Available Seats' were not able to be selected in the 'Select Seats'. AA EXP desk was able to get that done for me.
I don't recall what was the aircraft upon booking, but most likely it was 738.
I got a schedule change and equipment change for that itinerary (for ORD-MIA outbound it was changed from 738 to 763 yesterday or so for July, 4th), so equipment change is in my mind.
